Another excellent discussion! I am surprised that LTC (ret) Bob Maginnis’ book, “DEADLY CONSEQUENCES”, was not mentioned. Bob is USMA ’73, an airborne-Ranger-infantryman veteran. He uses a number of different studies and published data to make his arguments. No emotional appeals, just common sense. About the time I enlisted in 1971, there was an Army recruiting slogan going around that said, “We Want to Join You!”. It was a precursor to VOLAR. I thought it was a terrible idea then but it has led to what subsequently allowed for the dropping of standards and mindset that women and men are interchangeable. It was the beginning of the use of the military as a social experiment. Sadly, with so few that have served in our society, there is a misconception that women and men can do the same things successfully on the field of battle. One former presidential candidate even stated that war has become “push button”, therefore women and men can do it. The “equity” mindset has seeped into the military and anyone who disagrees is marginalized. This discussion needs to continue and hopefully we will see the nonsensical Obama/Biden policies based on emotional arguments, not common sense, reversed.
