NEW BOOK – Proud Grads: But With Concerns About the Ole School

There is a new book out about West Point: “Proud Grads: But With Concerns About the Ole School” by Dave Jackson ’73, one of the co-founders of the MacArthur Society.

Description:

Are you confident that today’s West Point Graduates are being prepared in the military ethos so that America will actually win our next war? We haven’t won one in the last 40 years. Why?

Explore some issues why tomorrow’s leaders may be unprepared. Why today’s Army fails to meet its recruitment goals.

While this book is strictly about West Point, it is applicable to all branches of the military and their Service Academies.

This e-book dives deep into the pressing issues confronting West Point today, offering a clear and unflinching look at the challenges that threaten to undermine the academy’s mission.

Through detailed examples and real-life accounts, it reveals how failures in leadership development, shifts in institutional priorities, and internal struggles are impacting the future of America’s military leaders.

For those concerned about the strength and integrity of the nation’s armed forces — and America’s ability to secure future victories — this book is an essential read.

Understanding these challenges is key to ensuring West Point continues to produce leaders capable of guiding the nation through the complexities of modern warfare.

Prices are easy on your pocketbook (all profits will be donated to the MacArthur Society of West Point Graduates).

Great Expose of what has been going on at our Military Academy.

I downloaded this book and started to peruse it on my Kindle just to get an idea of what was in it, then go back to the novel I’m reading. I starting to read the book, and ended up finishing the book in one sitting last night. The author does a great job of documenting many of the lamentations West Point graduates have had over the years about the changes at West Point.

It’s not some grievance book from an Old Grad- it is a compilation of what has gone wrong at West Point in the past few decades, and although he doesn’t use the words, I would describe it as the liberalization and civilianization of West Point. Most disturbing is the West point staff, up to and including the superintendents, obfuscating, lying, and quibbling over FOIA requests, or when answering questions. Some of the requests have been ignored for years.

Pay attention to the Appendices. Most of us just skip those, but there is real meat and documentation to back up the author’s assertions; for example, a letter from a member of the West Point S&F writing about how the supe allowed a known and declared communist, Rapone, to graduate from West point.

I highly recommend to all American citizens, not just those in the military or graduates of West Point to buy and read this book so you can find out what damage has been done to the institution of our Military Academies.
