March 2024 West Point Board of Visitors Meeting Minutes

The meeting minutes of the March 20224 West Point Board of Visitors meeting held in Washington, DC have been posted on the BOV page on the West Point website and we’re posted them here:

USMA BOV MINUTES – SPRING 2024 (FINAL) (pdf)

There is a slide “Corrosion of Character” (page 20 of 50) that the Cadet Honor Captain presented and to which LTG Gilland stated ( page 7 of 50):

“LTG Gilland added that an important aspect of character development is being a good person and treating others with dignity and respect. He emphasized that the Cadet Honor Code is the baseline or starting point for character development, and that the goal is to aspire to a higher standard of honorable behavior.”

“Referencing the “Corrosion of Character” product, he noted that many of the behaviors and actions listed on that product do not necessarily violate the Honor Code, however, they are not honorable behaviors and actions.”

Also of note: There are numerous letters on the Honor Code, Reconciliation Plaza and more in the appendices as attachments. However, as per usual there was no discussion of any of these by either USMA or inquiries by the Board of Visitors.
