Restoration of America Foundation Launches ‘Restore the Military’ Podcast to Tackle the FY 2027 Defense Bill

(Press Release) As Congress begins debate on the FY 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Restoration of America Foundation today announced the launch of the Restore the Military (RTM) podcast.

Hosted by military veterans Doug Truax (USMA ’92) and Will Thibeau, the show is designed specifically for Capitol Hill lawmakers, staff, service members, military families, and other military-minded Americans who want to cut through Pentagon spin and focus on real legislative reform.

The hosts bring a rare combination of boots-on-the-ground experience and policy expertise. Truax is a West Point and Ranger School graduate, and Thibeau is a fellow Army Ranger veteran. Together, they skip the talking points to explain exactly what is broken in our military—and how Congress can actually fix it.

Each 20-30 minute episode delivers a sharp, evidence-based deep dive into six critical fights facing the armed forces:

    • Ending race- and sex-based military decision-making
    • Restoring rigorous combat fitness standards
    • Rewarding and prioritizing the warrior class
    • Fixing the broken officer promotion pipeline
    • Dismantling bloated Pentagon bureaucracy
    • Rebuilding America’s arsenal for high-intensity conflict

Unlike standard political commentary, the show backs every argument with hard data, pulling from the Marine Corps’ combat-integration studies to CSIS war-game findings.

The central theme of the podcast is simple: “reform you own, not reform you rent.” Executive orders can be wiped away by the next administration, meaning lasting change must be codified into law by Congress.

“We are facing unprecedented global threats, yet our military leadership is distracted by bureaucratic drift and cultural engineering,” said Doug Truax, founder and CEO of Restoration of America.

“We don’t need temporary fixes. We need permanent, legislative reforms that return the Pentagon’s focus to winning wars. This podcast is a roadmap for the lawmakers holding the pen on this year’s defense bill.”

The Restore the Military podcast analyzes the NDAA fight closely through committee markups, floor debates, and final passage.
