The MacArthur Society of West Point Graduates today announced its incorporation in Colorado as a 501(c)(3) charity, the purpose of which is to restore the values and traditions that made the United States Military Academy the world’s foremost military academy and the nation’s first engineering school.
Society President John Hughes, MD, said,
“West Point graduates, as officers in the U.S. Army, take a solemn oath to defend America’s Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. However, in recent years, the academy has transitioned from an engineering university to just another liberal arts college with a woke agenda.”
Hughes said,
“Cadets are now indoctrinated in Critical Race Theory and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. White cadets are subject to Marxist-style self-criticism sessions and the Cadet Honor Code has been largely gutted by recent woke Superintendents.”
Hughes noted that West Point has hired civilian faculty who view the United States as an irredeemably racist nation and impose their radical opinions upon future Army officers who may be called upon to defend the country they have been taught to hate.
“Outside speakers in recent years have a mostly leftist bent,” Hughes said.
“The United States has not won a major conflict since World War II, recruiting is way down, and many veterans are encouraging their children, who historically have represented a substantial majority of volunteers, to refrain from joining the military. This is extremely dangerous given events in Ukraine and Taiwan.”
Hughes said that this transformation had taken place behind closed doors, under a veil of secrecy, with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests most often slow-walked or ignored, cadets being dismissed for refusing to comply with vaccination mandates and admissions skewed along racial lines rather than academic and athletic excellence.
“This from an institution that should be teaching future Army leaders patriotism, warfighting, integrity, honesty, and of course Duty, Honor, Country.”
The MacArthur Society of West Point Graduates was formed as an alternative to the West Point Association of Graduates, which now primarily acts as a fundraising vehicle for Superintendents instead of serving all graduates.
